“Volvió a la SFV -después de una larga espera- la pianista Mar Valor (Valencia, 2000) como parte del Trio Archai formado en 2023. Junto a ella, dos jóvenes de excelente formación: la violinista Ayla Sahin (Brigthon, Gran Bretaña, 1999) y el celista Finn Mannion (Crieff, Escocia 2022).
Ver y escuchar a esta nueva generación con tan alto nivel técnico y musical resulta, cuanto menos, gratificante. Estrenaron el Trio para piano, de Francisco Coll, compositor valenciano residente en Suiza, obra de escritura tan precisa como compleja, que necesita de una sincronía milimétrica tal y como ellos la expusieron. Es una partitura de orfebrería llena de aristas y ángulos lo que hace poder visualizarla como coreografiable por la gran variedad de recursos rítmicos que ofrece. Los Archai la ofrecieron con precisión y esmero siempre desde la claridad y la pulcritud en el discurso de los cuatro movimientos. Cerraron la primera parte con el Trio Op. 120 en re menor, obra tardía de Fauré, de escritura evolucionada sin perder la esencia de su estética personal. Tanto Sahin como Mannion y, por supuesto, Valor confirmaron la solidez de su magisterio por la excelencia de su compresión mostrada por la serenidad del cello, la luminosidad del violín y el enérgico e imprescindible apoyo del teclado. Escuchar el lirismo del Andantino fue, sin duda, uno de los mejores momentos de la noche. La obra representa, junto al Trío de Ravel, la cima de la música de cámara francesa de la época.
Finalmente, el Trio en Si mayor Op. 8, en su versión de 1891, es otro monumento del romanticismo alemán de del XIX, obra juventud escrita a los 20 años pero que el autor realizó una importante revisión, acortando considerablemente la primera versión, al final de su vida. Es una partitura muy exigente donde los intérpretes no cesan de escucharse y responderse de manera como lo hicieron los Archai: violín, cello y piano, respirando la intensidad de cada frase y disfrutando de su trabajo. Ovacionados, regalaron una delicada y sensible versión de la Nana, de Manuel de Falla. El concierto fue dedicado a la memoria de Carlos Peñafort Pérez, amigo y miembro de la Junta Directiva de la SFV, fallecido el pasado verano y quien siempre será recordado por su impecable labor e infatigable entrega durante tantas décadas.”

”After a long wait, pianist Mar Valor (Valencia, 2000) returned to the SFV as part of the Trio Archai, formed in 2023. Joining her were two exceptionally well-trained young musicians: violinist Ayla Sahin (Brighton, Great Britain, 1999) and cellist Finn Mannion (Crieff, Scotland).
Seeing and hearing this new generation perform at such a high technical and musical level is, to say the least, deeply gratifying. They opened with the premiere of a Piano Trio by Francisco Coll, the Valencian composer who resides in Switzerland. The work is both meticulously crafted and highly complex, demanding near-perfect synchronization, which the trio achieved brilliantly. It is a score of exquisite craftsmanship, full of edges and angles, whose wide variety of rhythmic devices makes it almost possible to visualize as choreography. The Archai Trio performed it with precision and dedication, maintaining clarity and refinement throughout the discourse of its four movements.
They closed the first half with the Piano Trio in D minor, Op. 120 by Gabriel Fauré, a late work whose evolved musical language nevertheless retains the essence of the composer's personal style. Sahin, Mannion, and, of course, Valor demonstrated the strength of their artistry through their outstanding understanding of the score, expressed in the serenity of the cello, the luminosity of the violin, and the energetic, indispensable support of the piano. Hearing the lyricism of the Andantino was undoubtedly one of the finest moments of the evening. Alongside Maurice Ravel’s Piano Trio, this work represents the pinnacle of French chamber music of its era.
The final work on the program was the Piano Trio in B major, Op. 8, in its 1891 version, another monumental work of nineteenth-century German Romanticism. Although originally written when the composer was only twenty years old, he later undertook a major revision, substantially shortening the original version near the end of his life. The score is highly demanding, requiring the performers to listen and respond constantly to one another—and this is precisely what the Archai Trio did. Violin, cello, and piano breathed together through the intensity of every phrase, clearly enjoying the experience of making music together.
After receiving a warm ovation, they offered an encore: a delicate and sensitive performance of the “Nana” by Manuel de Falla. The concert was dedicated to the memory of Carlos Peñafort Pérez, a friend and member of the SFV Board of Directors who passed away last summer and who will always be remembered for his impeccable work and tireless dedication over so many decades.”
